Avoiding Certain Foods: Coffee Creamer

The other day I was talking with my mom about coffee creamers. My mom and dad use Coffee Mate. And since they will be staying out our house for a bit in the future, I was going to buy them some so they wouldn't have to bring it.

As I said in my introduction, my family is riddled with people who have cancer, type 2 diabetes, hypothyroidism and so on. So when I read the ingredients in this product, I couldn't believe this garbage is allowed on our grocery shelves.

So I did some investigating with the help of one of my most trusted apps, Yuka. I will be mentioning this app a lot. It's my go to for almost everything. When I can't find something on Yuka, I Google it, watch podcasts or find news stories on the products, if there are any.

Warning: When you read this you will never come within 50 feet of this garbage ever again.

There 4 HIGH RISK additives in this popular Coffee Creamer are: 1. Dipotassium Phosphate: Known to disrupt bone mineralization, has a detrimental effect on the kidneys, increases the risk of hear disease, type 2 diabetes and breast cancer 2. Carrageenan: Increases the risk of cancer, causes chronic gut inflammation & is known to cause other chronic diseases 3. Cellulose Gum: This crap is in a lot of our foods. Causes chronic intestinal inflammation, certain cancers, autoimmune diseases, higher risk of cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome 4. Mono & Diglycerides: Increases the risk of cancer, heart disease, autoimmune diseases, disrupts the gut flora & can cause inflammatory disease And these are the 4 major ones in this product. There are other moderate and lower risk additives too. It's right on the label. Just look them up individually if you don't believe me. After reading about these chemicals, I told my mom she'd be better off injecting gasoline directly into her veins. She laughed.

When I looked up Creamer substitutes, Organic Valley Half & Half was a good dairy option. We use them. And we like it.

For a good Vegan option, Califia Farms Organic Original Oatmilk is what I use. There's no additives and it tastes really good. Keep in ming though, it's not a creamer. It's just Oatmilk. But I haven't found an Oat, Soy or Almond Milk creamer that doesn't have additives YET. But I'm looking. If anyone finds one, give me a shout out.

So next time you walk into mom and dad's house and see one of those nasty fake coffee creamers sitting on their counter, do your family a favor and throw it in the trash.
